State-wide Extension Expertise
Our
Extension Specialists provide leadership for the creation and delivery of educational
programs related to the economically and environmentally sound production of crops
throughout the state of Illinois.
The Crop Sciences Extension Team is committed to the dissemination of results generated from our science-based crop production and protection research programs. Each year, our specialists in Crop Sciences have direct contact with well over 15,000 residents of Illinois. Extension specialists within our department are instrumental in meeting the educational needs of the largest network of certified crop advisors (over 1,500 in Illinois) in the United States. Many educational programs are directed at farmers who produce field crops (26 million acres in Illinois). In addition successful and highly visible extension programs are delivered to fruit and vegetable growers (at least 64 vegetables and 15 fruit crops are produced commercially in Illinois).
Our Crop Sciences Extension specialists look forward to addressing the challenging crop production and protection problems facing producers throughout Illinois.
