Northern Illinois Agronomy Research Center

Northern Illinois Agronomy Research Center

Established in 1948 near Shabbona in DeKalb County on soils that are primarily Argiudolls and Haplaquolls, this 160 acre center is the northernmost facility of the system and provides land and support for campus-based researchers working in areas of plant breeding, soil fertility soil management, weed science, crop production, pest management and environmental quality. In addition, the center superintendent carries on applied research and demonstration programs in these and related specialties. Annually about 45 separate projects are conducted here.
